Adama Traore transfer 'not a priority' for Barcelona
Barcelona are not prioritising the permanent signing of Adama Traore in the summer following his loan spell at Camp Nou, according to Mundo Deportivo.
In the January transfer window, Adama completed an emotional return to Barcelona, having featured in La Masia as a youngster before leaving for England.
After just four appearances for the senior side, he was eventually sold to Aston Villa for a fee in the region of €8.3 million (£7m).
Adama would subsequently move to Middlesbrough before earning a transfer to newly-promoted Wolves in the summer of 2018.
It is at Molineux that the Spain international came into his own, as on his day he can certainly be unplayable due to his strength, dribbling ability and almost unmatched speed.
He was at his best in the 2019/20 season as he scored four goals and contributed nine assists in 27 starts, and it was around that time that Liverpool made their interest known, though no negotiations materialised.
His form went off a cliff in 2020/21 as he scored twice and recorded two assists in 28 starts, but he Barca head coach Xavi took a punt on the player which has paid off.
Adama has been excellent since his return, with particularly impressive performances against Atletico Madrid and Napoli.
But, his drop in form has coincided with better performances from Ousmane Dembele, which means he is not regarded as a starter currently.
Why Barcelona won't sign Adama Traore
Adama's future is linked to that of Francisco Trincao who is currently on loan at Wolves from Barcelona.
Barca had hoped to negotiate a swap deal that would see both loan deals made permanent, but unfortunately for the Blaugrana, Wolves are not planning to sign Trincao this summer.
If the club want to sign Adama, they will need to pay €30 million as agreed in the current loan deal.
Barcelona are prioritising other acquisitions for the summer as they have been linked with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen and others.
The Catalan side have not closed the door on a potential permanent deal, but there would need to be further negotiations made with Wolves on the transfer fee.
