The Norway international has spent much of this season out injured, but when fit Haaland has rarely struggled to score goals for Dortmund.

To date, Haaland has bagged no less than 23 goals and six assists in just 23 games for the Bundesliga giants in all competitions.

As such, the towering striker has been linked with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Real Madrid and Manchester City reportedly leading the way for his signature this season.

However, Barca have been linked with the player as well this season and when asked about the prospect of Haaland making the move to Camp Nou, Pedri couldn’t have been clearer.

“It’s a club thing, it’s a signing that the club makes,” said the young midfielder when asked by TV3 about the rumours linking the striker with a move to Barca.

“But Haaland has spectacular qualities, almost everything he touches turns to goals. I hope he can come because I’ve always said, I want the best [players] at Barca.”

Could Barca sign Haaland this summer?

While Pedri may love the idea of Haaland playing for Barca next season, the reality of the matter remains that the club are still under immense financial pressure and don’t yet have the capacity to be bidding for some of the most exciting players in the world.

This was made perfectly clear by the club’s president, Joan Laporta, on Friday in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, when he was asked about signing Haaland.

“I insist, I will not talk about specific players but I can tell you that we will not carry out any operation that puts the institution at risk,” said Laporta.

“It has been a maxim that we have followed since we became president again, it happened to us in various circumstances and we are going to continue with this philosophy and this criterion, not to put the institution at risk with operations that, not even if we were already healthy, we would.”
