Barcelona transfer round-up: New threat for Adama, Barca eye Ajax defender
Barcelona are set for a busy summer transfer window, with the future of loan star Adama Traore one of the main talking points as the end of the season approaches.
Signed from Wolves in January, the graduate from La Masia has performed a steady role for Barca but has fallen out of favour with regards the starting XI.
With the club under significant economic pressure, financing a deal is problematic because there are higher priorities for Barca to deal with in the transfer market which they need to focus their money on. And the deal is also reliant on the club pushing other player, such as Trincao, out the door for reasonable fees.
The Adama case is further complicated by clubs elsewhere chasing him.
According to FootballInsider, Everton are pursuing a possible move for the 26-year-old should they see Richarlison depart the club in the summer, as seems likely.
A bidding war over the winger is the last thing that Barcelona need if they are to sign him, so the prospects of them completing a transfer for Adama appear to be deteriorating with each passing day.
Barcelona target Lisandro Martinez deal
One of the areas that Barcelona are seeking to improve if their defence. They have been linked with several low-cost players to strengthen their backline, including free agent Antonio Rudiger, they could be ready to spend hard cash to get the man they want.
Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez is linked to the club by CuleMania, although the price tag of around €30 million could prove problematic for the same reasons as Adama.
Nevertheless, head coach Xavi is a fan of the 24-year-old, whose versatility could help cover both in the centre and left of defence. This attribute clearly makes him more valuable in the eyes of Barcelona, who could save money buying Martinez than having to splash out on two players.
