Dembele has verbal agreement to leave Barcelona and join PSG
Ousmane Dembele has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over a summer transfer to France, potentially ending his five-year stint at Barcelona.
Dembele, 24, arrived at Barcelona with high expectations following his club-record move from Borussia Dortmund.
However, injury problems have plagued the majority of his time at the Camp Nou, and with his contract set to expire this summer he could leave the club.
Although renewing his deal at the Blaugrana remains a feasible option, it's becoming increasingly apparent that Dembele won't be signing a new contract at Barcelona.
This season has been yet another punctured by fitness issues, but Dembele has managed 12 goal contributions in 17 La Liga games. Only one of these, however, has been a goal, with the rest being assists.
The mid-season signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres, plus the loan acquisition of Adama Traore, has bolstered the attacking options available to Xavi, but Dembele is set to loosen the load by one with his likely summer departure.
Chelsea have been linked with the Frenchman as they search for new talent in forward areas, and a move to Stamford Bridge would reunite Dembele with Thomas Tuchel after the pair worked together at Borussia Dortmund.
However, reports have suggested that PSG are leading the race for Dembele, with Kylian Mbappe's future still undecided.
The Parisians are wary that Mbappe could chose a move to Real Madrid over extending his contract at the Parc des Princes, so they are preparing for that event. Furthermore, Angel di Maria will also leave the club this summer, so signing at least one forward is one of PSG's aims in this upcoming transfer window.
Will Dembele leave Barcelona for PSG?
FootMercato have reported that a verbal agreement has been made between Dembele and PSG as they close in on a deal for the France international.
The report says that Dembele has been one of PSG's top targets for a while and that the club remain confident in getting an agreement in writing. Dembele himself was close to leaving Barcelona in January, but ended up staying at the club.
His form since then has suggested a new deal could be on the cards, but the player is yet to announce his decision.
FootMercato have also reported that Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez is also a target as they look to soften the blow of losing assets in their forward line this summer.
