Real Madrid and France forward Karim Benzema believes that himself and international team-mate Kylian Mbappe would be an unstoppable duo at club level.

Mbappe, 23, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for several years, and with his contract at Paris Saint-Germain set to expire at the end of the season, reports have suggested that he will join Los Blancos on a free transfer this summer.

The Spanish giants reportedly had a giant offer turned down by PSG last year, but are expected to go back in for the young French superstar.

However, despite the signs pointing towards a PSG exit, Mbappe hasn't ruled out the possibility of extending his stay in the capital of France. The player has revealed that he hasn't yet decided where he'll be playing his football next year, but Benzema is certainly keen for him to join Real Madrid.

The 34-year-old Benzema has scored 34 goals and registered 13 assists in just 35 games in all competitions this season for Los Blancos, and believes that if Mbappe joins the club that number will only increase.

What has been said?

Benzema told L'Equipe: "I like to play with Kylian Mbappé in the national team and I would like to play with him at club [level], for sure."

"I think we would score double or maybe even triple the goals together."

If that is the case, it would be a truly frightening partnership given they have already scored a combined 62 goals this season. Mbappe scored two and assisted three in a 5-1 demolition of Lorient at the weekend to take his tally to an incredible 48 goals and assists in 38 games this campaign.

Both players have shown they can play together through the middle for the French national team, but Real Madrid could be concerned with what a move for Mbappe means for the future of Vinicius Junior, who himself has 31 goal contributions in 2021/22.

However, it seems as though the Spanish giants have identified Mbappe as the dream signing, and appear set on persuading him to join. With Benzema at the club, Mbappe could be swayed to join his international team-mate at one of the most historic clubs in world football.
