How Haaland is pushing Lewandowski to Barcelona
Erling Haaland’s move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City will have the domino effect in pushing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, according to Bild.
On Tuesday, it was officially confirmed that Haaland will play for Man City next season.
The Norwegian agreed terms on a five-year contract worth a staggering €439,000 per week with Man City paying the €60 million release clause in his contract.
In completing this move, Manchester City not only beat Real Madrid and Barcelona to Haaland’s signature but also Bayern Munich.
WHO ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD?
Bild reports that Bayern were trying desperately right up until this past weekend to convince Haaland to reject City and sign for them.
This is said to have greatly angered Lewandowski, who no longer feels valued by the club and will now do everything to try and leave and join Barcelona.
Lewandowski’s future at Bayern is already very much in doubt as his contract at the club expires in 2023, with talks over a new deal not making any progress.
And an explosive report in Poland last month claimed that the striker had even agreed a deal to join Barcelona this summer.
However, Lewandowski’s entourage are in talks with Barcelona and a summer transfer has always been considered a possibility.
Barcelona have made the signing of a top striker their priority and Lewandowski is the number one choice on their shortlist.
With the 33-year-old now upset by Bayern’s actions with Haaland, Barcelona’s chances of signing Lewandowski have increased significantly.
