Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeness is “100 per cent” sure that Robert Lewandowski will be staying at the club this summer.

Lewandowski’s future at Bayern is very much in doubt as his contract at the club expires in 2023, with talks over a new deal not making any progress.

FootballTransfers first reported last month that Barcelona had made Lewandowski their top summer striker target after cooling their interest in Erling Haaland.

A number of other media outlets have since gone further and stated that Lewandowski has agreed a deal to join Barcelona.

But FootballTransfers also understands that Lewandowski has not yet signed a pre-contract agreement with the Camp Nou side or agreed to join them.

Nevertheless, Lewandowski’s future remains a very hot talking point and his entourage are believed to have held talks with Barcelona.

Legendary former Bayern player, president and now honorary president Hoeness is not concerned, though.

What did Hoeness say?

“I believe one hundred percent that Robert Lewandowski will play for Bayern next season. Why? Because he has a contract, simple,” Hoeness is quoted as saying by Sport.

Lewandowski has enjoyed another brilliant season for Bayern, scoring 49 goals in 44 games in all competitions.

Since joining Bayern in 2014 he has 343 goals in 373 games.
