Mbappe’s contract with the Ligue 1 champions expires in the summer and his future has long been subject to conjecture.

He admitted while picking up the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award on Sunday that he will announce his plans imminently, with the suggestion having long been that he will depart for Real Madrid. Nevertheless, this has not stopped PSG from doing everything they can to try to get him to remain at the club.

The latest indications, though, are that Mbappe will soon sign for PSG and perhaps the strongest of those arrived on Wednesday when his name disappeared from the online shop of the Parc des Princes side.

While other stars such as Neymar and Lionel Messi’s shirt numbers continued to appear, Mbappe’s No.7 was notably missing from the personalisation options. Shirts bearing his name were still available when he was specifically searched for, however.

Nonetheless, this is another indication that the World Cup winner will be departing Paris after five years at the club.

He will aim to bow out on a high on Saturday when PSG face Metz in a Ligue 1 encounter at Parc des Princes.

Mbappe still has some personal glory to chase in that match. He is aiming to finish the season as both the leading scorer and leading assist maker in Ligue 1 this season. On 25 goals, he is one clear of the in-form Monaco hitman Wissam Ben Yedder, and with 17 assists, he is four clear of team-mate Messi and Rennes star Benjamin Bourigeaud, who has been linked with a summer transfer to Roma.

Estimates suggest that Mbappe is set to earn between €25-50m when he signs for Real Madrid, where he will reportedly scoop a €100m signing on bonus.
