Lewandowski sets deadline for Barcelona transfer
Robert Lewandowski made it clear earlier in the week that he is intent on leaving Bayern Munich, with interest in him coming from Barcelona.
Towards the end of the 2021-22 season, there were reports of Lewandowski’s desire to leave Bayern, with negotiations over a new contract stalling.
Senior figures from the club, including CEO Oliver Kahn and President Herbert Hainer made it clear that they wouldn’t let Lewandowski leave, but the Pole confirmed in a press conference earlier this week that he wished to.
So far, Barcelona have been the only club with concrete interest in the forward, with manager Xavi admitting he wished to have the player in his squad for next season.
Would a move for Lewandowski be possible?
The Blaugrana are, however, troubled by financial issues and reports from Spain have suggested they may not be able to finance a deal for Lewandowski this summer.
The club are already having trouble registering Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen, who they signed on free transfers from Milan and Chelsea respectively.
La Liga President Javier Tebas already admitted it would be difficult to sign the Bayern forward: “As of today, Barcelona can’t sign Lewandowski. They know their financial situation and the rules of the league. I don’t know if they will sell Frenkie or Pedri, but they know they have to sell players or certain assets.”

Lewandowski, however, is adamant on a move to Barcelona and would be willing to wait to get his desired move to the club this year.
According to El Chiringuito, Lewandowski has told Barcelona that he is willing to wait 15 days to see what happens and whether a move would be possible.
Bayern Munich reportedly want €40 million for the forward, but paying that may prove to be a challenge for the La Liga club, which would put Lewandowski’s move to Catalonia in doubt.
