Liverpool look to QUADRUPLE Gavi wages after 'abysmal' Barcelona offer
Liverpool have reportedly offered Gavi the chance to quadruple his wages, with Barcelona's latest contract for the wonderkid being described as 'abysmal'.
Gavi has been a breakout star for Barca this season and he has one year remaining on a contract that contains a €50 million release clause, which Liverpool are keen to trigger.
The Spanish side have offered the 17-year-old a deal worth €2m a year but he is understood to be seeking a four-year contract that would increase his salary up to €6m in the third year.
Gavi has multiple offers however Liverpool are said to have the strongest proposal and are allegedly willing to pay the young midfielder €9m a year.
Could Gavi leave Barcelona?
It is believed the Spainiard would prefer to renew his contract at Barcelona and the two sides are willing to negotiate towards an agreement.
Barcelona are also keen to include a release clause of €1bn in any new deal for the player who made 34 La Liga appearances this season.
However, Liverpool's proposal is tempting and would far exceed any offer from the Catalans due to their well-documented financial issues.
The club have reportedly set a salary limit of €10m on any new contracts in order to decrease their wage bill by €160m by the end of the summer.
But the club are not looking to lose one of their brightest prospects and are calm over the speculation despite both parties being significantly apart in their valuations.

Despite the need to raise funds, the club are not looking to sell key players including Gavi and Frenkie De Jong, who is still being hotly pursued by Manchester United.
The English side have reportedly made a bid in excess of €60m for the Dutch midfielder despite the player being unconvinced by moving to a team without Champions League football.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to add a midfielder after agreeing personal terms with Darwin Nunez of Benfica in a move that would cost €100m.
