'Delete club!' - Sergi Roberto's new Barcelona contract leaves fans fuming
Barcelona fans have reacted bitterly to the news Sergi Roberto has been handed a one-year contract extension.
The Catalans announced on Friday that the defender, who's been at the club since the age of 14, would be remaining at the Nou Camp for another season at least.
The club's official website confirmed: "FC Barcelona and the player Sergi Roberto have reached an agreement to extend his contract until 30 June 2023. The player's buy-out clause will be set at €400 million."
Roberto has played over 300 matches for the club’s first team and had his contract running out later this month.
But the news of a fresh deal has not gone down well with Barca fans, who are pulling their hair out at the prospect of having the Spaniard represent them for another season.

Not quality in any position, refused multiple contract offers, and spent the whole year injured and we still decided to renew him... makes sense smh

He is a decent squad player. But the fact that this man is still in the club while the board is trying to force FDJ out tells you everything about the Catalan bias. And trust me, even Puig who’s not rated by Xavi will retire here because golfing with Laporta gets you far.

The 30-year-old came through the youth academy and has enjoyed huge success with the La Liga side, earning 19 major trophies, including six league titles and two Champions League wins.
Last campaign he featured on just 12 occasions and managed to find the scoresheet twice.
Whistle-blowers
In October, the defender spoke to Sport about fans that have whistled him on the pitch.
“I started the season with two goals and an assist”, he said. “That's why the whistling surprised me. You have to respect everyone's opinion and use it as motivation, motivation to work harder, compete better and take things on.
“That's how I am. If I am known for anything it's that I don't stop fighting and always give my all. I have done since the first day and I will keep doing so.”
