Tchouameni transfer to cost Real Madrid over €100m
Monaco have raised their asking price for Real Madrid transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni, according to a report in France.
It had been hoped that the France international midfielder might complete his move before the international break, but amid interest from Liverpool and PSG no deal has been concluded.
The 22-year-old remains well on course to sign for Real Madrid, but the case has been complicated by new demands from Monaco, who are eager to extract more money for the former Bordeaux player.
Los Blancos initially had an €80 million offer for the player knocked back only to come back with a second proposal that was closer to the French club’s valuation.
Liverpool have been priced out of the running as a consequence of these figures, while it is reported that PSG are not too hot on the player, despite the apparent desire of Kylian Mbappe for Tchouameni to join him at Parc des Princes. It is said this is because they have other priorities for the moment, such as appointing Luis Campos as sporting director and finalising the future of Mauricio Pochettino.
Why has Tchouameni’s price gone up?
Meanwhile, it is estimated that the final transfer cost of Tchouameni to Real Madrid will exceed €100m. Although this will not all be paid up front, the bonus payments are expected to be easily attained.
There is a reason that Monaco have pushed the figure so high. According to FootMercato, the total cost of the operation will be above this symbolic number because the principality of Monaco is seen as a tax haven in the eyes of the Spanish government and the club will therefore be liable for 19% of any capital gain raised by the player’s sale to a La Liga club.
Despite Monaco raising the stakes further, Real Madrid are not said to be flustered by their stance and are willing to complete the transfer.
