Vinicius Jr confirms new Real Madrid contract
Vinicius Jr has confirmed that he has agreed a new contract at Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old attacker, who joined Los Blancos from Flamengo for €45 million in 2018, enjoyed a breakout season in which he scored 22 goals and created 20 more in all competitions.
His most important strike, of course, was the goal that won Real Madrid a 14th Champions League, the only strike in their 1-0 final victory over Liverpool.
And he is now being rewarded for his form with a new contract until 2026 that is set to earn him around €10 million per year.
Vinicius Jr has confirmed that the new contract will be announced soon.
What did Vinicius Jr say?
"I will continue in the world's biggest club,” he told ge Globo.
“My journey has only just begun. I have many things to conquer. I hope to be able to tell a lot of things at the end of my career."
"My evolution as a footballer? It's normal with age. At the start, I skipping many training stages. I became a professional when I was 16 years old and I wasn't fully trained.
“At Real, the pressure is great, but I had the help of Karim Benzema, Marcelo, and Casemiro."
"This past season went well, so the hope is that the next one will be even better.
"The dressing room is more united than ever. It's the best atmosphere in the world. Everybody wants to be there. The most experienced players give us peace of mind and freedom to express ourselves on the pitch."
Vinicius Jr is set to have a minimum fee release clause in his contract worth a massive €1 billion.
PSG had attempted to tempt him away from Madrid with an offer that would have quadrupled the salary he has agreed with the Blancos.
But Vinicius Jr has decided to continue his career with the European champions.
