Barcelona to use Kounde and Lewandowski tactic to sign Silva
Barcelona are ready to use a tried-and-tested tactic in order to secure the signing of Bernardo Silva from Manchester City before the end of the transfer window.
The Catalans have enjoyed a remarkable transfer window in which they signed Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen on free transfers before adding Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde in big-money deals.
Their spending, though, is not done.
Speaking to CBS Sports, president Joan Laporta indicated that there will “probably” be more new arrivals before the close of the summer transfer window.
FootballTransfers understands that Bernardo Silva of Man City is high up the shortlist of players they could target, particularly if Frenkie de Jong leaves for Manchester United, which remains a possibility, despite Barca playing hardball with the Premier League outfit.
In order to secure the Portugal international, they are set to employ a tactic that they used to secure Raphinha, Lewandowski and Kounde, namely, the art of patience.
How Barca plan to sign Silva
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona and Silva know that if a deal is to be conducted, it is likely to be late in the transfer window. They have been masters of biding their time this summer in order to strike when it suits them. Indeed, they seemed to have lost Kounde to Chelsea and it also seemed improbable that they could sign Lewandowski from Bayern, too. Both deals were done in the end.
Barcelona will get buy in from the player and will swoop when the time suits this. Indeed, Mundo states that they already have this for the former Monaco man, who is said to be a long-standing admirer of the club. Indeed, this is what could facilitate a move because City will allow any player who is unsettled to depart.
In the case of a potential deal for Silva, that is likely to be towards the end of the transfer window.
