Bernardo Silva speaks out on Barcelona rumours
Bernardo Silva has been linked with a move away from Manchester City, with Barcelona interested in the player, and the Portuguese has spoken out about interest in him.
Silva has been subject of interest by the Blaugrana, who have been interested in him for several years, and a move to the Camp Nou could be possible this year.
Xavi’s side have already spent big having brought in players like Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski and are looking at Silva as one of their next targets.
The 27-year-old, though, has been coy about his future, and has chosen to remain professional as he prepares for the new season with Manchester City.
Silva speaks about Barcelona links
When asked about his future, Silva said: “I’m not sure. What’s really important is that I’m preparing for the season as well as possible. And for as long as I play for Manchester City, I will always give my best.
He further added about respect for the club and everyone linked to the Premier League champions: “My relationship with the club, with the fans, with my team-mates is fantastic and I will always respect that.”
Barcelona have been interested in Silva from as early as 2020, but were unable to make a move for the player then due to their tough economic condition.

They feel they can get their man this year, though, but only if they let go of Frenkie de Jong, who has long been of interest to Manchester United.
United and Barcelona have been in discussions for De Jong for nearly two months, with the situation of the Dutchman’s deferred wages holding up the deal.
The potential sale of De Jong would allow Barcelona to spend more funds, as well as open up a tactical possibility in Xavi’s side that would allow the purchase of Silva from Pep Guardiola’s side.
Silva has been at Manchester City since 2017, and has been a part of four title-winning sides, including the past season, where he was regarded as one of the team’s best players.
