The two attackers Real Madrid want to challenge Benzema

Real Madrid are open to signing new forwards, keeping tabs on Chelsea’s Timo Werner and Espanyol’s Raul de Tomas, but will only do so if they complete sales.
The European champions are looking for a back-up option for star forward Karim Benzema, but will have to sell first to accommodate others.
Los Blancos are open to selling Mariano Diaz, Marco Asensio and Borja Mayoral, all of whom have seen game time limited or have spent time away from the club on loan.
In that case, they’ve lined up a few names to come in should they complete their desired sales, and feel they’re going to have to make moves due to the 2022-23 season’s busy schedule.

Real Madrid have options to consider
In the case of De Tomas, the club have been interested in their former academy forward for a long time, and the player is aware of this, but a concrete move is yet to be made.
De Tomas is open to leaving Espanyol and Real Madrid is his preferred destination, with the club putting a €75 million release clause on him, however, a deal would cost around €25 million.
The Spaniard previously played for Real Madrid, coming through their academy, but left in 2019 and has since spent time at Benfica and Espanyol, where he had made a name for himself.
The other option is Chelsea’s Timo Werner, who hasn’t made the biggest impact at Stamford Bridge and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is open to selling the German.

Real Madrid aren’t wholly convinced on the move, citing the player’s lack of confidence he has shown at Chelsea and with the German national team, as well as his role in the squad.
Carlo Ancelotti isn’t certain that Werner will assume the role of a secondary forward, and that could be a problem for the team.
According to reports in Spain, there are, however, two options for the transfer: either a direct purchase for €35 million, or a loan with an option to buy at the end of the loan period for the same price.
The club have 12 days to make a decision on what they wish to do for the upcoming season, as they wish to have a squad ready in time for the start of the league campaign.
