Revealed: Ousmane Dembele's Barcelona contract details
Ousmane Dembele has been handsomely rewarded for his decision to stay at Barcelona, with his new contract placing the forward among football highest-paid players.
The star's contract saga was drawn out throughout the 2021-22 season, with club and player unable to reach a deal despite repeated attempts at negotiation.
Indeed, on July 1 Dembele actually became a free agent after his link with the Blaugrana expired, freeing him to sign with any interested club.
Barca, however, eventually got their man, with an extension officially announced later that month which ties the Frenchman to Camp Nou until the summer of 2024.
The new contract, moreover, is a reflection of just how highly he is rated by the Catalans.
How much will Dembele make with new deal?
According to figures published by Sport, Dembele will earn a base salary of €16 million in the 2022-23 and 23-24 seasons.
That figure climbs even higher when his potential bonuses are taken into account: up to €4m per season for a total of €20m annually.
On top of that, if Barcelona decide to sell Dembele before his contract expires he would also be in line for a handsome pay-off.
Sport claims that should the player's release clause - quoted at €100m, though several sources assure it is in fact €50m - be met by an interested club, he would be entitled to receive no less than half of that sum.
Dembele, who turned 25 in May, has played a total of 150 games for Barca and scored 32 goals since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, with injuries curtailing his involvement in the first team.
In that time he has lifted five major trophies with the club, including back-to-back La Liga titles in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
