Inter beat Barcelona 1-0 at San Siro on Tuesday evening in a tight and controversial Champions League matchday three group game.

Calhanoglu scored the only goal of the game with a trademark shot from outside the area.

The Turkey international fired the ball low into the corner, to the right of Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen.

And Calhanoglu revealed after the game that Lukaku had advised him to shoot in that area of the goal as the Belgian considered it a weak point of the German goalkeeper.

What did Calhanoglu say about Ter Stegen?

“I spoke to Andre and Rome before the game, Rome came to me and told me to shoot on the right side, as that is Ter Stegen’s weak point,” Calhanoglu revealed.

“It was a good shot, but the three points are what really matter.”

Ter Stegen’s position as Barcelona’s long-term number one has been questioned over the last year or so, although the Blaugrana have only conceded one goal in La Liga this term.

Bayern Munich lead the group with nine points, followed by Inter on six, Barcelona on three and Viktoria Plzen on zero.

Barcelona dominated the game in terms of possession, boasting 78% of the ball.

However, they created very few clear chances as Inter defended comfortably for much of the game.

But there was huge controversy in injury time when Denzel Dumfries handled the ball in the area.

After a long, silent VAR check, the referee was told not to go and check the onside pitch monitor and waved for play to continue.

This has caused outrage in Barcelona, with Xavi blasting the officials and the merits of VAR again being questioned after a string of errors this season.
