Barcelona will pay Sergio Busquets' wages even after he leaves

Sergio Busquets is likely to be the next to leave Barcelona as his contract runs out at the end of the campaign and a move away is looking likely.
Over the course of the last few months, talk of his departure has increased for a variety of reasons as many feel he is no longer the same player he once was.
Barcelona have been on the hunt for his successor with many names targeted over the last few weeks and they are likely to sign a player soon.

However, before his departure is complete, there is one issue to resolve – that of his deferred salary that is owed to him, and he may get money even if he doesn’t play for the club.

Busquets was one of the players who took a major salary deferral to help Barcelona through the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and he is now going to wait to receive wages he is owed.
According to Sport, Barcelona proposed a two-year contract to Busquets in the summer in which he would’ve received his deferred wages.

However, he refused this as he wasn’t given enough guarantees of the payment and now, he will be paid for two years after he leaves the club, even though he won’t play for them.
Busquets currently earns €13 million-per-season at Barcelona and the midfielder received a major chunk of what he owned from the last campaign this season, which is believed to be 75 percent of his wage.

Barcelona have identified options for players who will succeed Busquets such as Ruben Neves, Martin Zubimendi and Jorginho but no future transfer for any player is certain yet.
Busquets, meanwhile, could be set for a move to Major League Soccer as Inter Miami have been one of the interested sides looking to make a move for the midfielder.
