Brazil reach agreement to appoint Carlo Ancelotti - Fabrizio Romano

Brazil have reached an agreement to appoint Carlo Ancelotti as the new head coach of the senior men's national team, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The legendary Italian manager is in the final stages of his Real Madrid career. After a hugely disappointing season, the two parties will go their separate ways before the campaign officially culminates with the new Club World Cup.

In the space of a few weeks, Real Madrid relinquished top spot in LaLiga, crashed out of the Champions League in humiliating fashion and lost the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona in a game that was emblematic of their season.

Despite not playing terribly, Real Madrid ultimately came unstuck, and several players completely lost their heads after Jules Kounde's 116th-minute winner. It nicely illustrated that Los Blancos need a makeover in the summer.

Ancelotti and Real Madrid will part ways amicably, and the 65-year-old will certainly land on his feet.

Ancelotti reaches Brazil agreement

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti already has his next job lined up. The Brazilian federation have finally got their man, with Romano reporting that an 'agreement in principle' has been reached with the Real Madrid boss.

Ancelotti will officially take charge of the Selecao for the June international break, which means that Real Madrid will need a coaching solution for the Club World Cup.

It has been posited that they could appoint Santiago Scholari as interim boss. Alternatively, they could bring their expected appointment of Xabi Alonso forward.

The Bayer Leverkusen boss is the clear favourite to succeed Ancelotti, and he is understood to be keen on the job. The former midfielder is still under contract until 2026, so Real Madrid will have to pay a compensation fee in the region of €15 million.
