The Blaugrana squared off against Manchester City in a friendly to raise funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) research, and it finished 3-3 in an entertaining clash.

The goalscorers for Barcelona included Frenkie de Jong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay who are, incidentally, three players they could be selling soon.

The two Dutchman have been up for sale for much of the window, but no deal has materialized, while Aubameyang has emerged as a recent transfer target.

Barcelona may reconsider stance

Frenkie de Jong is Manchester United’s primary target and the saga has been active for about 16 weeks now, with the two clubs even agreeing a fee at one point in July.

However, the hold up is the situation around Frenkie de Jong’s deferred wages that he is owed by the club from a contract agreement he signed in 2020.

Memphis Depay has been told he can leave the club and was close to joining Juventus earlier in the week, but that move has broken down and he may have to stay at Barcelona.

The player couldn’t reach personal terms and a salary agreement with Juventus, and that has forced the Italian club to look at other options as they wish to strengthen their attack.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has emerged as a target for Chelsea and a move could be completed soon as the Blues look to improve their attacking line.

The forward has a good relationship with Thomas Tuchel and is keen to reunite with him at Stamford Bridge having previously worked with him at Borussia Dortmund.

Their performances in the friendly against Manchester City may force Barcelona to reconsider their stances on certain players and they may look to keep them.
