Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s possible transfer to Chelsea would trigger Barcelona to sign an Argentina international – but not Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.

In a Twitch chat on Thursday, transfer specialist Gerard Romero was discussing Barca’s position with a week remaining in the transfer window and “guaranteed” a deal will take place should the Camp Nou side offload Aubameyang.

But while there may be a clamour for Bernardo to arrive at the club, the Argentine in question is instead a defender who is based in La Liga.

“I can guarantee that if Aubameyang leaves, Juan Foyth will be a new Barcelona player,” he told his viewers.

The arrival of Foyth at Barcelona would make a great deal of sense. The 24-year-old performed to a strong level in La Liga last season and would fill the right-back role that Barca have made one of their priorities before the end of the summer transfer window.

Barca do not have a genuine specialist in that position that head coach Xavi is happy with. Sergino Dest, for example, appears to be heading out of the club while Ronald Araujo and Sergi Roberto have been used there so far.

Amid all the transfer talk, there have been concerns that the club has not been able to get its existing players registered, yet there remains optimism that Jules Kounde will soon be available for league matches.

RAC journalist Lluis Carrasco told Romero’s JijantesFC stream: “Let no one doubt that Jules Kounde is going to be registered. At the level of transfers, every statement is one of a strategy.”

Indeed, FootballTransfers understands that a deal between Barcelona and Chelsea for Aubameyang is very close, which would lead to Foyth’s arrival and potentially Kounde being registered to play against Valladolid on Sunday.
