Kylian Mbappe will indeed be staying at Paris Saint-Germain as The Administrative Court of Paris rejected La Liga’s plea to have the player’s contract at PSG terminated.

Mbappe was expected to join Real Madrid this year, after many months of negotiations between player and club as the Frenchman’s PSG contract was due to run out at the end of the 2021-22 season.

However, the forward made a last-minute U-turn, as he refused Real Madrid’s contract offer and signed a three-year extension, signing a deal that will last until the summer of 2025.

That created a row between the two clubs, and also between the two leagues, as La Liga wished to get the contract annulled, citing PSG’s breaking of Financial Fair Play regulations.

Mbappe to stay at PSG this season

La Liga’s argument was that the LFP – the institution that runs Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 – should’ve never approved Mbappe’s extension over the summer, believing that PSG broke rules.

The Spanish top-flight’s claim was that the French champions 'falsified balance sheets' and 'voluntarily far-fetched projected budgets', or, lying about their finances to make Mbappe’s lucrative extension possible.

Now, it’s been confirmed by reports in France that La Liga’s appeal has been rejected, and Mbappe will continue playing for Paris Saint-Germain this season, and likely, the two years after that as well as the very least.

Mbappe is admittedly a fan of Real Madrid, and has previously said it’s his dream club, but continued his stay in Paris, where he is widely regarded as the main figure for the club.

He started this season over the weekend against Montpellier, where he missed a penalty and his relationship with one of the team’s other stars – Neymar – is in question.

He was seen wanting to take a second penalty in the game, but Neymar refused to give him the ball, which has led many to believe that they have a frosty relationship which could harm the PSG dressing room.

The two have reportedly been asked to drop their egos for the betterment of the team by the club’s new sporting director Luis Campos, who is keen on helping the Parisians win the Champions League for the first time.
