Barcelona to return for Bernardo Silva next summer
Barcelona have had a busy transfer window, making a host of top signings, and the start they’ve had to their season has backed up the heavy spending they’ve done.
The club signed some top players from across Europe including Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde and more, but there were also a few targets they missed out on.
Barcelona were actively trying to sign Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, but neither move happened and they ran out of time.
They are still plagued by financial issues, and had troubles registering players, hence why moves for the duo above proved to be difficult, but they are still keeping an eye on one of them.
Barca still keeping tabs on Silva
According to Sport, Barcelona plan to return for Silva next year, with Xavi being a keen admirer of the player’s qualities and is eager to work with him at the Camp Nou.
He was one of the club’s top targets, but the situation at the club prevented Barcelona from signing him, as they didn’t have the necessary funds to complete the deal.
There was a belief that they would be able to make a move for him had Frenkie de Jong been sold, but, despite 17 weeks of talks with Manchester United, a move never took place.

Manchester City were willing to negotiate with Barcelona over a transfer, while Silva himself was keen on a transfer as Barcelona is his dream club and it would be a move closer to his home country.
The player also reportedly patiently waited for a move to happen until the very end, until he realized the transfer would not be possible for him or the club this year.
Barcelona are still keeping that option open and want to see Silva at the Camp Nou next summer – he’s one of the top objectives for the club in 2023.
They understand plenty of work will have to be done in order to get the player next year – they may even have to fork out a fee higher than the one that was demanded this year, which was around €80 million.
