Barcelona 'rejoice' in Griezmann karma
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid had one of the more petty stories at the start of this season when it came to the case of forward Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann signed a two-year loan deal with Atletico Madrid in the summer window of 2021 having not made a big impact with Barcelona since signing in 2019.
There was controversy earlier this season over who had ownership of Griezmann’s contract, with Barcelona claiming Atletico Madrid had met the clause that would see them sign the Frenchman permanently.

However, the clause was that Atletico Madrid would pay a €40 million fee to Barcelona, in case he plays for at least 45 minutes in the 50 percent of the games he is available in.
Barcelona rejoice in Atletico exit
Earlier this month, both clubs reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Griezmann as Atletico Madrid would pay €20 million for the transfer, with €4 million in variables.
Now, there is a bit of bad blood between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, with the Blaugrana seemingly unhappy at how the transfer business was conducted.

The case almost went to court at one point with Barcelona believing they were entitled to the transfer fee because the clause had been met, but Atletico Madrid were convinced it was not.
Barcelona now no longer want to conduct any business with them in the near future as they feel it’s complicated and relations between the two clubs have worsened.

Barcelona are also now happy with Atletico Madrid’s Champions League elimination, believing it is “karma” for their actions during the transfer saga.
Despite Barcelona feeling they had made a great deal with the sale of Griezmann, relations between the clubs are tense and that has left a sour feeling.
Griezmann has been doing well for Atletico Madrid since the start of this season, having scored four goals and provided three assists over the course of this campaign so far.
