Barcelona boss Xavi pleased with Ansu Fati's response to Spain snub
Barcelona boss Xavi has been full of praise for youngster Ansu Fati following his omission from Luis Enrique’s Spain squad that played in the Nations League over the last two weeks.
Ansu Fati hasn’t had plenty of game time so far this season with Barcelona, rotating heavily with the likes of Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Ousmane Dembele and that has led to his exclusion.
The winger has also been struggling with injury issues over the last two years and that has slightly affected his form, with Xavi keen to ease him back to action to avoid it becoming a recurring issue.
Now, Xavi has praised the winger’s response, having seen him train without the internationals and work towards recovering his best form for his club in the hope of getting into the World Cup squad.
Xavi pleased with Ansu Fati's response
“Ansu is very good, these two weeks he has trained very well,” the Barcelona boss said ahead of his side’s La Liga clash against Mallorca as they hope to continue their positive start to the campaign.
“We are very happy with the attitude. Another player would have fallen apart and he has rebelled. He is one hundred percent and it will be important.”
There have been doubts from Barcelona’s staff in recent weeks over Ansu Fati’s growth, with some feeling he will be unable to play at his best on a consistent basis due to his long injury lay-offs.

Ansu Fati missed Euro 2020 due to a knee injury having been given his debut just a few months prior, and will be hoping to return to his best to avoid the flight to Qatar this winter.
So far this season, all of Ansu Fati’s appearances in the league have come off the bench, and that is something he is keen to change as the season goes on.
