Kylian Mbappe’s chances of joining Real Madrid look slimmer than ever after Florentino Perez looked ahead to a future without the French star.

Mbappe had seemed destined to join Real Madrid this past summer but completed a dramatic turnaround by penning a three-year extension with PSG at the end of May.

Throughout 2021-22, it had been unanimously accepted that he would sign for Madrid on a Bosman transfer when his previous PSG contract expired.

Having rejected a €200 million bid from Real Madrid for Mbappe in the summer of 2021, the Frenchman was believed to have already agreed a free transfer move to the club he supported as a child.

This was reinforced by the fact that he rejected numerous offers of a PSG extension throughout the campaign.

But, in a shock twist, Mbappe decided to sign a new deal at PSG in May

However, it has been widely reported in recent days that Mbappe is unhappy with PSG for breaking promises they made to him when he renewed his contract last summer.

One of these promises was that he would play in his preferred wide role in attack but instead he has been deployed as a number nine.

This has reignited talk that Mbappe will belatedly join Real Madrid in 2023.

But Madrid president Perez was very dismissive of this when asked about it on Monday.

What did Perez say?

"Mbappé? It's not that I'm bored, it's that I don't even read the stories about Mbappé anymore," Perez said.

"We have an extraordinary future ahead of us. Vinícius Jr and Rodrygo are real stars. I see them as future Ballon d'Or winners.”

Karim Benzema won the Ballon d’Or on Monday, while Mbappe finished sixth. Vinicius Jr was eighth.

In tenth was Erling Haaland, who AS reports is now Madrid's target to succeed Benzema.
