Real Madrid were keen to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer and had eyes on Erling Haaland, but missed out on both, and they are seemingly getting over it.

Mbappe was reportedly close to joining Real Madrid for a long time before a last-minute U-turn meant that he signed a lucrative new deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

Haaland was of interest to many clubs but chose Manchester City early on and his transfer saga ended quickly, with Real Madrid getting neither of the two.

Now, it appears to be that they are quickly forgetting about the two players and are moving on, as evident by their assembly of board members which was held on Sunday morning.

Perez coy on Mbappe and Haaland

Florentino Perez, the club President, spoke at the assembly of members and club delegates at the Real Madrid City Pavilion at Valdebebas and it was expected that he would be asked about Haaland and Mbappe.

However, there wasn’t any mention of either player, and despite members being able to ask questions directly to the President, they refused to ask about the Manchester City and PSG forwards.

Instead, they focused on matters that were relevant to them and concerned their membership at the club, which Perez took note of and duly replied to when given the opportunity.

"I take note of everything they have said, but we will study it later. What we have to do is recover from the pandemic,” Perez said at the end of the meeting to all the members.

He continued in his speech: “And thank you very much to all those who have stayed until the end. So far we have not started badly."

Real Madrid made just one signing all summer in the form of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, but they have plans for the future, having been linked with Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
