The Blaugrana have been keen on improving their midfield options with Sergio Busquets looking set to depart come the end of the season.

It’s believed they are closely following some players’ performances at the World Cup with a view towards making a move in either the winter or summer transfer windows in 2023.

Two Manchester City players are under that radar: Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva, with the former set to run out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Barcelona eyeing City duo

Barcelona have been keeping tabs on Gundogan for a while and interest in him goes back to October, with the club open to a free transfer in the future.

The club have to make free transfers due to the fact that they are still in financial trouble and that hasn’t been helped by their recent Champions League group stage exit.

Bernardo Silva, meanwhile, won’t come in cheap as he has a contract at Manchester City and is still performing well, being a key part of Pep Guardiola’s team in recent times.

He was imperative to their title win last season and Barcelona had interest in him in the summer but could only sign him had they sold Frenkie de Jong.

That didn’t happen and Silva ended up staying at Manchester City, but Barcelona have maintained their interest in the player over the last few months.

In the summer, the Premier League champions wanted upwards of €100 million for the Portuguese star but Barcelona may not be able to fork that out.

Whether Barcelona move for him, Gundogan or both in the future remains to be seen but what is clear is that there is an interest in him from the Blaugrana.
