Pique thinks football is "outdated" in Super League backing

Gerard Pique has spoken about his post-retirement plans having left Barcelona earlier in the week and is looking into his off-pitch ventures, as well as a possible Super League revival.
The defender was a divisive figure at Barcelona and during his time, there was always a belief he would chase Barcelona’s Presidency at some point in the future.
Pique has plenty of business ventures outside football and there was a belief he could’ve used that knowledge to lead Barcelona in the future.

However, he is going to pursue those before considering a run at the Barcelona Presidency, as he revealed on Twitch streamer Ibai Llanos’ podcast.

"I'm sure it will appeal to me at one point but not right now," Pique said on Wednesday. "Not training every day will give me the opportunity to focus on other things.
“In the future, we will see, but I would like to help the club of my life maximise the potential it has," he added, suggesting it was something he was greatly interested in.

He then spoke about the Super League project and said that while he didn’t agree with the way it was implemented, he agreed with the general view shared by Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.
"The presentation for the Super League was a big f--- up, above all coming from Florentino," Pique said. "I hold him in the highest regard, so I was surprised how they screwed that up.
"The presentation on El Chiringuito and all of that, I did not understand it. I am sure he wanted to achieve something, but I don't know what.
“But I agree with him about needing to captivate younger audiences, even if I don't agree with the Super League. I think we have to change the established rules that we have had for years.

“We have to have shorter, more seductive products. To me, 90 minutes seems a long time. If not that, they need to change something. Football is still the king of sports, but for me it is outdated."
Pique’s final game was against Almeria last weekend, and he was in the squad for the match against Osasuna this week but didn’t come off the bench as he was sent off.
