Barcelona have no hope of selling Memphis Depay
Barcelona have been trying to offload Memphis Depay since last summer and it appears they will have just as much luck to that end now as they did then.
Memphis has been for sale for some time, now. His Barca future began to look bleak in February when the club signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Robert Lewandowski's subsequent €50 million arrival from Bayern Munich in July might have been the final nail in the coffin.
Since the Pole arrived to occupy the No.9 position, Memphis has been restricted to just two La Liga starts, and moves to Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and latterly Newcastle have been floated. But so far, the Dutchman has stayed put.

It is a situation that looks set to continue, with Newcastle's transfer priorities since shifting to a new left-back, with centre-back Dan Burn having deputised there for much of this season due to other injuries in the squad.

'Depay situation quiet'
"The Depay situation is completely quiet now, we will see later in the window," transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote in his CaughtOffside column. "He's focused on Barcelona now. Newcastle are looking for new [left-] back and also for potential new winger if there's a good opportunity."
Depay may not be getting his game at Camp Nou but he is making around €10.4m per year from his Barca contract, and few clubs are willing to match that for a player who, despite having 43 goals in 86 Netherlands caps, hasn't always convinced at club level.

There is also the fact that he is out of contract at the end of the season. The 28-year-old is more likely to make up any future shortfall with a signing on fee should he join his next club on a free transfer next summer.
It looks like Barca are going to have to live with having Memphis in their squad for another few months yet.
