Barcelona suffer blow in the hope of selling Memphis Depay
Barcelona are looking to sell Memphis Depay in the January transfer window but may face a few complications in that process.
Depay hasn’t featured much for Barcelona over the course of the campaign which has led to doubts over his future and Barcelona are keen to cash in.
According to reports, they are only willing to sell him provided they get a fair fee for him, which may prove to be difficult for one of Depay’s many suitors.

Roma, who have maintained an interest in Mbappe over the last few months and are hoping to make a move for him, but may face an obstacle in that bid.
Depay had a mixed World Cup with Netherlands, scoring once against the United States in the last 16, but he wasn’t able to show his best form.
Barcelona suffer transfer blow
Roma were well-placed to sign Depay and there were talks between player and club but the move is complicated due to the Italian club’s financial difficulties.
Roma cannot meet the financial demands set by Depay and are considering withdrawing from the race to sign Depay, according to journalist Luis Rojo.

This would leave Barcelona in a pickle as they would have to keep Depay in their squad despite a wish to sell him as quickly as possible.
There are a few conditions that Depay wants to meet in case of a future transfer away from the Camp Nou: he specifically wants to play at a Champions League club.
One solution for Barcelona is to push for his departure and cover a part of his wages, although that doesn’t resolve the issue of their tough financial situation.
The Dutch forward has only played part in two La Liga appearances and 15 minutes of Champions League football for Barcelona this season, scoring one goal in the process.
