Real Madrid alerted as Mbappe to announce plans to leave PSG

Real Madrid are on high alert with Kylian Mbappe reportedly set to go public with his desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

Real were on the cusp of signing Mbappe earlier this year before the France star U-turned, signing a bumper new deal with PSG which made him the highest-paid athlete in history.

Despite scoring 19 goals in 20 games in the run-up to the World Cup, Mabppe has cut a frustrated figure in Paris, and publicly lashed out at having to play as a No.9 when he was promised the signing of an elite striker on signing his contract.

Mbappe subsequently top scored with eight goals at the World Cup with runners-up France, with whom he played, for the most part, on the left with Olivier Giroud leading the line, and his positional position at club level could leave him looking for alternatives.

"Mbappe seems to be determined to change scenery and could communicate his decision before the end of the year to leave Paris on 30 June," reports Sports' Luis Miguelsanz.

"Mbappe already revealed before the World Cup that he was angry with PSG and that his wish was to leave Paris. The Frenchman feels he could perform better and improve as part of a different project."

The next Galactico?

Mbappe is the highest valued player per Football Transfers' in-house algorithm at €147.3 million, and although Real are a generation past the Galactico era, they would be willing to spend big on a generational talent who only turned 24 on Tuesday.

Real have already secured the signing of Brazilian prodigy Endrick from Palmeira for €72m, but the 16-year-old striker can only arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2024 when he turns 18.

One of his stipulations for signing was that Real didn't have a No.9 blocking his path to the first team. That effectively precluded a move for Manchester City's Erling Haaland, but with Mbappe happier playing on the flank, his signing would make significantly more sense.
