Revealed: The details behind Real Madrid's €72m Endrick transfer
Endrick will sign his pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid in the coming weeks as the frantic race for the ‘new Neymar’ draws to a conclusion.
Madrid appear to have beaten a host of Europe’s top clubs, such as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Barcelona, to the signing of Endrick, with the Palmieras wonderkid set to join in 2024 on his 18th birthday.
According to reports, Real will pay around €60 million to the Brazilian side, with €35m up front and €25m in add-ons, along with an additional €12m to compensate the taxes that Palmeiras will have to pay for selling to a Spanish club.
MOVING ON: How Endrick deal helps Barcelona
The bonuses are believed to include clauses based on whether Endrick wins the Golden Boy award or a Ballon d’Or with the club
Endrick is understood to have verbally agreed a six-year contract until 2030 and the deal will be completed once the documents have been ratified by FIFA.
How did Real Madrid convince Endrick to sign?
Real were considered to be the frontrunners to sign Endrick, with the 16-year-old’s family having travelled to Europe in Feburary to visit the club’s training facilities and watch the team in action.
Endrick is also believed to be a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo and was keen on emulating his idol by becoming a success in Madrid.
BRAZIL FACTOR: Why Vinicius Junior is key to Endrick's Real move
Reports have also suggested that Real agreed to an ‘anti-Erling Haaland’ clause, with Endrick’s representatives wanting assurances that the Manchester City striker would not be pursued as he would impact the youngster’s pathway to first team football.
Haaland has a release clause in his City contract which could allow him to leave in 2024, the same year Endrick would join Madrid but the La Liga side are believed to have insisted that they don’t have current plans to sign the Norwegian striker.
While Real are still hoping to secure a long-term successor to Karim Benzema, the signing of Haaland or Kylian Mbappe is not a priority at the moment, but either may still arrive in the future with Endrick.
