Arsenal are interested in signing Barcelona winger Raphinha but face a major obstacle in their hopes of getting any deal done – the Catalans have set an outrageous asking price.

Raphinha only joined Barcelona in the summer transfer window from Leeds United but has struggled to make an impact in his short time at the Camp Nou.

There have been doubts over his capability to adapt to Spanish football and he hasn’t been able to nail down a permanent starting place in the team.

That has meant that other clubs are interested in him, like Arsenal, who are looking for a wide player after failing to land Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Barcelona was big fee

Raphinha moved from Leeds United in a €60 million deal and has only netted three goals in 22 appearances for the club in that time.

There have been suggestions that Barcelona are looking to offload him as a result and want to recoup much of what they bought him for in the summer window.

It’s been reported by Diario Sport that Barcelona will be looking for €100 million if they were to sell him soon – nearly double of what they purchased him for, but that is an outrageous fee for the Brazilian winger.

Raphinha hasn’t performed nearly as well to suggest he is worth that or worth spending that amount of money on as his performances haven’t hit the heights expected of him.

Bar the World Cup where he showed some signs of encouragement, Raphinha hasn’t been able to nail down a starting spot, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres often playing ahead of him.

Football Transfers’ valuation system values Raphinha at €46 million, taking into account his age, productivity this season, length of his contract and other factors, showing he’s worth nowhere near Barcelona’s reported demand.
