Griezmann was of interest to Manchester United in the past when they were under Jose Mourinho’s managerial spell and that interest was brought up again the summer.

Manchester United were looking at improving their attacking line and Griezmann was one of the options considered by the side.

However, a move for the 31-year-old didn’t happen as he was committed to making his loan move to Atletico Madrid a permanent one in the summer.

Manchester United were interested in Griezmann deal

Manchester United considered several attacking options in the summer and Griezmann’s name came up when they were in Madrid for talks with Real Madrid for Casemiro.

When representatives from the club were in the Spanish capital for talks with Casemiro, they also considered the possibility of signing Griezmann.

However, the French international’s focus was only on Atletico Madrid as he was there on loan from Barcelona and was close to making the move permanent.

The loan deal for him was made permanent earlier in the season as the Rojiblancos agreed on a fee for the transfer and Griezmann is now fully contracted to them.

It’s believed that during negotiations, Griezmann was flattered by Manchester United’s interest in him but was committed to improving Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United finally strengthen their attack in the winter with the loan signing of Wout Weghorst from Burnley as his deal at Besiktas was terminated.

They were keen to sign a forward after Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract at the club was terminated in November following his unsanctioned interview with Piers Morgan where he was critical of the club.

In the summer, they are hoping to make a big money, long term signing in attack to bolster their forward line and improve the team.
