Barcelona must make €200m in order to play next season
La Liga have disputed claims that Barcelona are close to evening up their finances after the club said the departures of Antoine Griezmann and Gerard Pique helped.
Barcelona recently said in a press conference they were €20-30 million away from fitting within their salary limit.
However, La Liga president Javier Tebas and Chief Corporate Office Javier Gomez have disputed that claim.

They spoke at a La Liga informative event and said they have to make up €200 million if they want the financial greenlight.
Barcelona claim disputed
“The balance of €200m is with the information provided by FC Barcelona itself. President Laporta himself spoke of losses of €93m of losses due to the transfer to Montjuic. Staff costs, COVID losses that were not calculated,” remarked Tebas.
“The €470m that Mateu Alemany said matches the cost of the first team’s sports squad,” continued Gomez.

“You add the 108 million of non-registered personnel, expenses, etc. and it turns out that more than €200m are missing. And we no longer count Griezmann and Pique, they are already discounted in the [February] market update.”
Barcelona have been in financial trouble for a while with the club’s previous leadership putting them in serious trouble when they were in charge.
Last year, they required financial levers - the sale of club assets against future profits - to fund their transfer window, taking a serious risk.
They were told that they won’t be able to do the same this year, and as a result, they are looking for a few free transfers to bolster their squad ahead of next season.
This may force them to sell some of their top talent, and there could be several names out of the club soon.
La Liga and Barcelona haven’t been on the best terms as of late, with the two having to go a long way to settle the matter regarding Gavi’s registration as a first-team player.
They may have similar battles in court in the future as they look to get past this issue regarding a salary cap and be able to spend more freely.
