Silva has been a long-term target of Barcelona's and was rumoured to be joining last summer.

The Portugal international stayed at City and is now being linked with a transfer to the la Liga leaders once more.

The 28-year-old's future is 'uncertain', according to The Telegraph, while Spanish outlet SPORT are reporting that he wants to move.

Silva has registered three goals and five assists in 23 Premier League games in the 2022-23 season as City look to retain their title for a third consecutive time.

They are currently five point behind Mikel Arteta's Arsenal as they have not hit the heights of recent seasons.

Guardiola has tinkered with the formation of his team recent weeks in an attempt to get more out if his star-studded squad.

Silva has been asked to play as an auxiliary left-back on occasion, in contrast to his typical role in attacking midfield.

He would return to a more advanced position under Xavi at Barcelona, who would have to fork out a reported €80 million for his signature.

Kovacic to Man City?

Chelsea could lose midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the summer, with Manchester City reportedly looking to take advantage of the Croatian’s uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

Kovacic is into the final 18 months of his contract and the west London club have yet to make a decision on the 28-year-old’s future.

And with Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva set to leave this summer, Pep Guardiola's side could look to Kovacic in the next window.

City have outlined Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham as their ideal midfield target but they could lose out on him to Liverpool, Manchester United or Real Madrid.
