Camavinga's agent on his player leaving Real Madrid for Arsenal

Eduardo Camavinga was linked with a sensational move to Arsenal in the January transfer window, and continues to be played out of position by current employers Real Madrid.

Madrid signed Camavinga, one of European football's brightest midfield prospects, in a €40 million deal from Rennes in the summer of 2021.

Madrid then signed Aurelien Tchoumeni, one of European football's brightest midfield prospects, in a €100 million deal from Monaco in the summer of 2022.

As a result, Camavinga has been increasingly used as a left-back, if indeed starting games for los Blancos at all.

Outside observers might have expected his nose to be out of joint, and it seems that was the source of rumours he could join the Gunners in the winter transfer window.

But now his agent Jonathan Barnett has broken the Camavinga party's silence about a potential move to the Premier League leaders.

Arsenal talk 'garbage'

"That was garbage, it was something that wasn't going to happen," he told GOAL's Javier Birlanga. "He's never thought about playing for another team and Real Madrid wouldn't have let him leave.

"He's going to be one of Real's stars in the future, so why leave? It was all rubbish."

Arsenal are known to be in the market for a midfielder, with squad depth alongside Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka - who can shield the defence - stretched thin.

England starter Declan Rice and nascent Brighton star Moises Caicedo are among those who have been linked with a move to the Emirates. Both will cost significant sums, but they are more likely to move than Camavinga.

"He wants to be a Real Madrid player and wear the white jersey for the rest of his life," Barnett continued. "There won't be any problem with Madrid, we'll sit down and I'm sure that we'll come to an agreement."
