Relations between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are broken due to the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga, but Carlo Ancelotti would still love to be reunited with one of his former stars.

Marco Verratti is a PSG legend, a man who has been ever-present during the era of Qatari ownership and success. Nevertheless, his time in Paris could be coming to an end.

With Lionel Messi and potentially Neymar departing and a different coach expected to be in the dugout next season, a new era will dawn at PSG. 30-year-old Verratti may be one of the names not part of the new project, even though his contract with the French behemoth runs until 2026.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, who spent two years in charge of PSG, is keen to be reunited with his former protégé. There are several immovable roadblocks in the way that will make a move impossible, however.

Broken relations and a stacked midfield

Ancelotti is well aware that there is little need for Verratti at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid's midfield is already so stacked that Eduardo Camavinga is being played at left-back. And there is no sign of that changing next season, with both veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos expected to extend their stay for one more campaign.

The even bigger problem is the tension between PSG and Real Madrid. Los Blancos have been courting French megastar Kylian Mbappe for years and they were very close to finally securing his signature last year only for the 24-year-old to sign a new deal in what was a surprising U-turn.

This ongoing saga has strained relations to the point where both sides are unwilling to do business with each other, claims Fichajes, and Ancelotti will have to make do without one of his favourites next season as Madrid try to get back to the summit of LaLiga.
