Real Madrid receive Harry Kane transfer boost

Harry Kane is open to leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid at the expense of challenging Alan Shearer's Premier League goal record according to transfer specialist David Ornstein.

Kane has emerged as a top transfer target for Real Madrid following the departure of Karim Benzema, who has left for Saudi Arabia on a €200 million-a-year contract with Al-Ittihad.

Brazilian prodigy Endrick will arrive in a €72m transfer from Palmeiras next summer once he turns 18, while Florentino Perez is loath to pay big money for Kylian Mbappe a year before he can walk away from Paris Saint-Germain on a free.

Accordingly, Real have a gap to plug now, and Kane is seen as a player who could adequately replace Benzema's goals - as well as his ability to link play - at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Manchester United were understood to be frontrunners for Kane's signature, even if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would rather sell outside of the Premier League, but Ornstein says Kane and Tottenham could be open to a move to Spain.

What did Ornstein say?

"As far as I know he's open to all opportunities, including Real Madrid," he told Rio Ferdinand's FIVE podcast on YouTube. "I'm not aware that he would not play outside the Premier League like some have suggested, and that he would only want to stay here and break Alan Shearer's goalscoring record.

"I do sense from conversations that they would look… to promote Richarlison into that main role, because he does lead the line for the Brazil national team…"

Richarlison has only scored three goals in 35 games in all competitions since joining Spurs from Everton for an initial £50m last July, but he has largely been used out of position on the flanks. As a striker, he has 20 goals from 42 games for Brazil.

Spurs would rather sell Kane to Madrid now than lose him on a free to United next summer, and los Blancos have more than one reason to be optimistic.
