Mbappe's €200m SACRIFICE to join Real Madrid
Kylian Mbappe has made a €200 million sacrifice by not triggering his Paris Saint-Germain extension clause, according to French media.
The 24-year-old is the protagonist of the summer's biggest transfer saga after it was revealed that he has decided against extending his contract until 2025, meaning that he will be a free agent next summer.
This outraged PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who proceeded to banish Mbappe from Luis Enrique's first-team squad. With the Frenchman officially transfer listed, there have been many rumours about a club potentially signing him this summer. Al-Hilal made a world-record €300m bid that was duly accepted by the Parisians but rejected by Mbappe.

The star attacker has no intention to depart France this season and it is clear that he is even ready to sacrifice a year of his career in order to get his free transfer move to Real Madrid next summer. French media reports that, if Mbappe stays, he will not feature for PSG during the upcoming season.
But, as it turns out, even just refusing to trigger his extension was already a massive sacrifice.
Missing out on €200m
According to Le Monde, the money Mbappe will miss out on by leaving next term amounts to almost €200m. The report claims that the Frenchman would have been due a €60m signing bonus, a €55m loyalty bonus, another €9.5m bonus and of course his €75m salary.
PSG are still desperately searching for a solution as they do not want to lose Mbappe for free, but with the player having rejected their latest contract offer that would have allowed him to sign for Madrid next season anyway and a move to Saudi Arabia, it seems unlikely that anyone will be able to take him off their books this term.

Real Madrid have already spent north of €100m on transfers this summer, but even if they hadn't, why would they spend €200m (or more) on a player they can just sign for free next year?
