Barcelona could land a cut-price deal for Joao Felix, but it will require another loan first, according to Spanish media.

The former Chelsea loanee has started life in Catalunya like a house on fire. Felix has impressed so much that Barcelona are actually worried that he is too good and will be too expensive for the cash-strapped club to acquire permanently.

Indeed, it seems that this will be the case. According to Sport, Atletico Madrid have set an asking price of €80 million for their record signing for next summer in a bid to recoup a realistic amount of their original ridiculous €127m outlay.

Barcelona, however, could not afford this given their still-dire financial situation. Despite recording profits of €300m last term, there is still uncertainty over the club's ability to spend, particularly in January. But there could be a way for them to eventually land Felix permanently.

€40m deal

The above-mentioned outlet states that there are two ways the Blaugrana could go about acquiring Felix. One would be to match Atleti's demands in instalments. It would see Barcelona transfer three payments clocking in at a little over €25m to the Madrid side, but as things stand, they are unwilling to pay that much for the winger.

The second option would be to take Felix on loan for another season. "The club," writes the Spanish outlet, "believe that next summer they will continue to be very financially limited but are more optimistic about July 2025. A new loan would mean one more year of amortisation by Atlético, so the price in 2025 would be substantially lower."

Barcelona would try to agree a loan with an option to buy and the price "would revolve around €40m...There is also the possibility that Atlético want to...ask for more, but if Joao remained firm, it would be the player and Barça who would have the upper hand."
