'It seemed like Mbappe was very close to joining' admits Real Madrid star
Real Madrid loan star Joselu has admitted that it seemed as though Kylian Mbappe would join the club during the summer transfer window.
Mbappe, 24, has been perennially linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for the past few years and he even rejected the chance to join Los Blancos for free last summer.
The Frenchman fuelled further rumours of a transfer to Spain during the most recent transfer window after he sent a letter to Paris Saint-Germain to state that he will not be extending his current contract, which is due to expire in 2024.

Mbappe was suspended by the club, but he has now returned to action and he has scored seven Ligue 1 goals so far this campaign.
However, Joselu has told the media that the Real Madrid squad discussed the possibility of Mbappe joining this summer.
The Spaniard, who re-joined Real Madrid on a season-long loan deal from Espanyol, told Relevo, via Fabrizio Romano: “Mbappé deal? There were moments when it seemed like he was very close, then there were days when it seemed like he wasn't going to come.

“In a locker room you always talk about everything. There were moments when it seemed like he was going to come.”
What else did Joselu say?
Joselu also admitted that he would like to stay at Real Madrid beyond this season. “I’m here at Real Madrid on a loan deal with a buy option, nothing else. I would really love to stay,” he said.
“Real Madrid is my life’s club, I want to do a special season in order to convince the club and stay here.”
Joselu, 33, has started five La Liga games for Los Blancos this season and he has notched five goals and provided two assists during that time as Carlo Ancelotti’s side sit top of the table in Spain.
