Why it's IMPOSSIBLE for Barcelona to sign Messi on loan
Barcelona are not even considering the possibility of bringing Lionel Messi back to the club on loan, despite reports of a potential move.
Messi, 36, has been linked with a Camp Nou return in recent weeks, with the idea of a loan move to Barcelona gathering traction.
Inter Miami’s final game of the 2023 season takes place against Charlotte FC on 21 October as they will not qualify for the MLS play-offs.

As a result, Messi will have a significant period of time away from action, which led to rumours that Barca would attempt to bring him back on loan.
However, Sport have reported that it is “impossible” for the Blaugrana to reach a deal.
As per Barca Universal, Sport’s report states that: “Absolutely no one at Barcelona, including the technical and administrative staff, thought [about] bringing Leo Messi back to the club.

“The player did not consider the option either. Even if there was an intention, Inter Miami wouldn't let him leave. Above all, registering him in La Liga would be impossible for Barcelona.”
Big-name stars have left MLS to return to Europe on loan in the past, David Beckham’s short-term move to AC Milan for example, but Messi will not become the latest.
Guillem Balague recently told BBC Sport that Messi won’t be joining another club on loan. “Messi will have around one month [of] holiday, like other footballers. So forget any move to Saudi or similar,” he said.
Messi wants to stay at Inter Miami
Messi has made no plans in regard to his future at Inter Miami despite reports he’s already decided that he will leave when his contract runs out in 2025, FootballTransfers has been told.
Reports from Spain have suggested Messi has no plans to extend his contract with the American club and will depart in two years to head back to his childhood team, Newell's Old Boys.
Messi remains focused on the job at hand, we understand, and the idea of him already deciding to leave at the end of his current deal has been rubbished by those close to the player.
