Real Madrid’s Plan B if they fail to sign Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid plan to sign Bayern Munich wonderkid Jamal Musiala if they fail to get Kylian Mbappe next summer.

That is according to Bild, which reports that Musiala is Madrid’s number one target in 2024 if they can’t get their hands on Mbappe.

Mbappe is widely expected to join Madrid on a free transfer at the end of the season when his contract at PSG expires.

However, twice in recent years Mbappe had been expected to join Madrid only for him to perform a u-turn at the final hour and remain put.

If that were to happen again in 2024, then Madrid would turn to Musiala.

The 20-year-old is regarded as a superstar of the future and a potential Ballon d’Or winner.

Musiala frustrated at Bayern?

There have been reports in recent weeks that Musiala is frustrated at Bayern, having been dropped to the bench too much in recent weeks.

The Germany international star spent three out of four Bundesliga matches on the bench between the international breaks in September and October, which has reportedly fuelled the desire of Musiala to try another challenge.

Musiala’s relatively low salary of €100,000-per-week could also make him eager to make the move to Madrid, as could the present of his friend Jude Bellingham.

Signing Musiala would not be easy for Madrid, though. Bayern have no intention of selling and he has a contract until 2026.

It would also likely take a club record fee even surpassing what Madrid paid for Bellingham in order to snap up the Germany international.
