Real Madrid make major Ancelotti decision to avoid player mutiny
Real Madrid are ready to offer Carlo Ancelotti a new contract despite his agreement with Brazil, according to a report.
It has been one of football's worst-kept secrets that the Italian legend is set to take over as the head coach of the Brazilian men's national team upon the conclusion of his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.
Fluminense boss Fernando Diniz is currently in charge in the interim and appears to be popular among the players, though whether this is still the case after he oversaw the Selecao's first-ever home World Cup qualifying loss - to hated rivals Argentina of all teams - remains to be seen.
Either way, the "agreement" between Ancelotti and Brazil has been in place for several months, though it can't be officially sealed until January. This has given rise to speculation that Real Madrid could make a U-turn and offer the Italian a new deal while they still can. This season has been a massive improvement on last term even though Los Blancos currently find themselves behind table-topping surprise package Girona in LaLiga.
A big reason behind the Madrid side's upturn in fortunes has been the summer arrival of Jude Bellingham, and the Englishman could also be crucial in getting Ancelotti to stay.
Real Madrid decision
That's at least according to 90min, which claims that Los Blancos have now made the decision to offer their head coach an extension to avoid potential upheaval.
Ancelotti is an extremely popular figure among the playing staff and he's particularly appreciated by the younger Galacticos who will shape Real Madrid's destiny for years to come, such as Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Aurelien Tchouameni.
The report asserts that initial talks over a new deal have already taken place with Madrid fully aware that Ancelotti's leadership could be key for what is bound to be a big 2024 with the arrival of Endrick and the potential signings of Kylian Mbappe and Alphonso Davies, while the old guard of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos is expected to depart.
