Barcelona get definitive two-word answer over Lewandowski transfer plans
Barcelona have been told in very definite terms that striker Robert Lewandowski will not be leaving the club in the January transfer window by leading agent Pini Zahavi.
Lewandowski has come under the spotlight at the Catalan club in recent times because of his disappointing on-field display.
But on top of this, the Poland international is also Barca’s top earner during a time of financial crisis, doubling the scrutiny on his displays.
Rumours have linked the 35-year-old with a potential January transfer to the Saudi Pro League and these whispers have only heightened after Pini Zahavi was spotted having dinner with Barcelona president Joan Laporta in Catalunya.
Zahavi was instrumental in Lewandowski moving to the Camp Nou side and was asked as he left the restaurant if the former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star will remain with the Balugrana until the end of the season.
He gave a simple two-word answer that he will hope ends the matter: “Of course.”
Lewandowski’s best hope of the speculation surrounding his future dissipating is by regaining the prolific scoring form that has been such a hallmark of his career.
He has scored only three goals in his last 13 games for Barcelona as Xavi’s side have slipped down LaLiga’s standings ahead of the winter break.
Zahavi discussing Kimmich to Barcelona transfer?
It is suggested that Zahavi was meeting with Laporta to discuss the future of Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, who has been closely linked with a move to Barcelona next summer.
Kimmich is out of contract with the Bundesliga side in June 2025, making him vulnerable to leaving at the end of the season.
Sport reports that the operation is expected to be “very complicated”, but it is a deal that Kimmich is keen on completing after spending nine successful years with Bayern.
