Alphonso Davies' decision on his future will come down to whether he values money or glory more, according to Spanish media.

The Bayern star is stuck in contract talks with his employer. Despite the Bavarians having been keen to tie the Canadian down long-term for more than a year, the managerial upheaval at the end of last season has meant that still no progress has been made on that front.

Davies has established himself as one of the world's best left-backs since arriving from the Vancouver Whitecaps and Bayern are naturally keen to keep him, but the fact of the matter is that his contract is up in 2025 and it will require an awful lot of work to convince him to remain in Germany.

The uncertainty surrounding his deal has attracted the attention of Real Madrid who have been looking for a long-term replacement for the legendary Marcelo ever since he departed and Davies would certainly fit the bill. Bayern's reported price tag of €50 million for next summer would make him affordable, but the ball is ultimately in his court.

Davies' decision

According to MARCA, Davies must choose between "money and glory." The Canadian's face graced the front page of the December 28 print edition of the Spanish paper and it asserted that he would have to forgo a lot of money if he wanted to sign for Real Madrid.

It is claimed that Los Blancos could not offer the 23-year-old the same kind of salary as other sides because of the club's stable and well-balanced wage structure. It was a similar situation with Jude Bellingham.

The English wonderkid could have made a lot more money had he signed for a club like Manchester City, but he chose "glory" over money by signing for the Spanish giants. Davies faces the same decision.
