Romano reveals Barcelona are closing in on 'next Pedri' transfer
Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blaugrana's persistent courtship appears to be bearing fruit. Djurgardens midfielder Lucas Bergvall is desperate to join the Catalans, who are making good progress in the talks with his club, reports transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Swedish midfielder, who has been likened to Barcelona star Pedri, is also being heavily courted by Eintracht Frankfurt, but despite the interesting sporting project on offer and the promises of regular game time, Bergvall has his heart set on a move to LaLiga.
Interestingly, Barcelona's breakthrough comes mere weeks after they were reportedly out of the race to sign the 17-year-old due to Djurgardens' €15 million asking price. The Blaugrana will be keen to get this transfer over the line as soon as possible after missing out on the signing of Arthur Vermeeren to Atletico Madrid.
Romano has revealed that a deal for Bergvall could be struck soon, though he did not yet disclose what kind of financial package the cash-strapped Catalans will offer.
What did Romano say?
"Barcelona are advancing in talks to sign the talented Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall, born in 2006," Romano revealed on his YouTube channel. "It's a big fight between Barcelona and Eintracht Frankfurt."
"Eintracht can guarantee a place in their midfield, a different kind of sporting project, but Barca are ahead because they are the priority of the player. Bergvall wants to go to Barcelona. Now, it's on Barca to agree on a deal with the Swedish club."
"The conversation is ongoing and there is a new round of talks already scheduled between Barcelona and Djurgardens to negotiate for Lucas Bergvall. The bid from Barca is valid for the summer, so the player would join Barcelona in July, not in January. Eintracht are still pushing, but Barcelona are leading the race and now ready to insist with a new round of talks for Lucas Bergvall."
